What is PRINCE2®?

PRINCE2 stands for PRojects IN Controlled Environments. PRINCE2 is a structured method for project management. PRINCE2® is popular and is widely used across many industries in private as well as public sector.

PRINCE2 is a flexible method and can be adopted by any organization regardless of type or scale. It is built upon seven principles, themes and processes. Still it can be tailored to meet an organizations specific requirements.

The IPR for PRINCE2 is owned by AXELOS. The exam body for PRINCE2 is PeopleCert.

The PRINCE2® Certification has two main levels, Foundation and Practitioner. There is Agile flavor of PRINCE 2 which is called “PRINCE2 Agile®” PRINCE2 Agile certification scheme includes the PRINCE2 Agile Foundation and PRINCE2 Agile Practitioner qualifications.

You can take PRINCE2 Training courses via one of AXELOS’ Accredited Training Organizations (ATOs).

The PRINCE2 Foundation:

The PRINCE2 Foundation Level introduces the PRINCE2 method. The Foundation certification aims at making you aware about PRINCE2. Under this you will know and understand the PRINCE2 method well enough to be able to work effectively with, or as a member of, a project management team working within an PRINCE2 Project environment. The Foundation certification is also a prerequisite for the Practitioner certification.

PRINCE2 Practitioner certification:

PRINCE2 Practitioner certification is suitable for anyone who is managing projects as part of their role. The Practitioner certification aims at checking if you have sufficient understanding of how to apply and tailor PRINCE2 method in a range of different project environments and scenarios.

The PRINCE2 Agile Certification:

The PRINCE2 Agile certification provides guidance to PRINCE2 project managers who require specific guidance on how to tailor PRINCE2 in an agile context or environment.

PRINCE2 Agile enables practitioners to apply the project management principles of PRINCE2, whilst combining the flexibility and responsiveness of agile concepts such as Scrum and Kanban. The certification is aimed at all individuals and organizations involved with project, product and programme delivery and support.
